India is in the top 50 nations in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2020
India rank has increased by 4 places in the Global Innovation Index 2020. India has ranked 48th by the World Intellectual Property Organization in the Global Innovation Index 2020 rankings. With this, India comes in the top 50 innovative countries in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) annual ranking for the first time.
India jumped four spots on the Global Innovation Index 2020 and now India is at 48th position in the list of top 50 innovative countries in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) annual ranking.
This year Switzerland, Sweden, US, UK and Netherlands has topped in the Global Innovation Index. According to an official release, in 2019, India’s rank was 52nd and 81st in the year 2015.
According to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) data, India is one of the leading innovation achievers of 2019 in the central and southern Asian region. India has shown a consistent improvement in its Global Innovation Ranking for the last 5 years.
As per the released data, the cionsistent improvement in the global innovation index rankings is owing to the immense knowledge capital, the vibrant startup ecosystem, and the amazing work done by the public and private research organizations.
According to data, India, China, the Philippines, and Viet Nam are those economies which shows the most significant progress in their Global Innovation Index ranking over time. All the four economies are now in the top 50 in Global Innovation Index.
India (48th) and the Philippines (50th) first time comes in the top 50. The Philippines achieves its best rank ever—in 2014, it ranked 100th. China(13th) topped in Middle-Income Group. Viet Nam(42nd) topped in Lower Middle-Income Group. Tanzania(88th) topped in the Low-Income Group.
