Facebook launches ‘Report it, Don’t share it!’ initiative
Facebook has launched a new initiative ‘Report it, Don’t share it!’ that enables people to report child abuse content on its platforms and not to share it. The initiative ‘Report it, don’t share it‘ is in collaboration with civil society organizations like Aarambh India Initiative, Cyber Peace Foundation, and Arpan.
To report content call 1098 and report it to the Childline India Foundation. If the content exists on Facebook’s family of apps, it can be reported on fb.me/onlinechildprotection.
Facebook also partnered with Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia who runs a community ‘Freedom to Feed’ on Instagram, which is a safe space for women to speak about breastfeeding and have an open dialogue about the challenges surrounding it. But the community has evolved to become a space for discussing diverse aspects of parenting too.
Weyan village in Bandipora, India’s first to inoculate all adults
Weyan village in district Bandipora (J&K) has become the first village in the country, where the entire population above 18 years has been vaccinated.
The vaccination in Weyan village was covered under the J&K model, a 10-point strategy to inoculate everyone who is eligible for the shots at a faster pace.
The Union territory also achieved 70% vaccination for those in the 45+ age group despite the initial vaccine hesitancy, almost double the national average.
Rhea Chakraborty topped ‘The Times 50 Most Desirable Women 2020’
Rhea Chakraborty has bagged the number 1 spot on Times Most Desirable Women 2020 list. Miss Universe 2020, 3rd runner-up Adline Castelino bagged the second spot in the list. Actress Disha Patani, Kiara Advani, and Deepika Padukone were on the third, fourth, and fifth spot respectively.
Bengaluru international airport achieves net energy neutral status
The Kempegowda International Airport here has achieved net energy neutral status in the Financial Year 2020-2021 as part of its sustainability goals.
Bengaluru international airport (BIAL) has been able to save nearly 22 lakh units of energy in the Financial Year 2020-2021. 22 lakh units of energy is enough to power nearly 9,000 houses for a month.
As per BIAL, these measures were achieved through solar installation. It has also begun purchasing 40 million units of solar power through open access and wind power purchase through open access. Adoption of LED and optimal use of natural light contributed to energy-neutral status.
Heidelberg Cement plans world’s first CO2 neutral cement plant in Sweden
HeidelbergCement, the world’s second-largest cement maker, plans to turn its Swedish factory in Slite into the world’s first CO2-neutral cement plant by 2030 via carbon capture technology.

Microsoft launches the first-ever Asia-Pacific cybersecurity council
The first Asia Pacific Public Sector Cyber Security Executive Council has been launched by Microsoft. It consists of policymakers and influencers from Brunei, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
The main aims of the council are to accelerate public-private partnerships in cybersecurity and share threat intelligence.
The council will meet quarterly basis through virtual mode. As part of the council, government agencies and state leaders will join a forum. The forum includes Microsoft and its cybersecurity industry advisors.

World Health Assembly adopts decision to recognize 30 January as World NTD Day
74th World Health Assembly endorsed a decision recognizing 30 January as World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day (‘World NTD Day’).
World NTD Day commemorates the simultaneous launch of the first NTD road map and the London Declaration on NTDs on 30 January 2012.
IFFCO introduces the world’s first ‘Nano Urea’ for farmers across world
Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has introduced the world’s first Nano Urea Liquid for farmers across the world.
According to an official statement issued by IFFCO, the world’s first Nano Urea Liquid was introduced in its 50th annual general body meeting held in the online-offline mode in India.
The Nano Urea Liquid has been indigenously developed after many years of research by its scientists and engineers through a proprietary technology developed at Nano Biotechnology Research Centre, Kalol, in line with ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Krishi’.
The Nano Urea Liquid has been found effective and efficient for plant nutrition which increases the production with improved nutritional quality. Nano Urea will also have a huge positive impact on the quality of underground water, a very significant reduction in global warming with an impact on climate change and sustainable development.
